"Are you on the lookout for a totally different alternative sound? If so, you may want to check out fresh cold cuts, a relaxing wave of 15 experimental tracks, built upon the vocals of previously recorded tracks from bare wire's delicatessen album.

"Although many of the remix tracks closely resemble each other in the serene, spiraling vocals and synthesized, shimmering instrumentals, the light, but ever-present dance beat and incomprehensible Siren's wailings can be a relaxing break from daily stresses.

"A mutual effort of two artists, bare wire and wiremnky, fresh cold cuts meshes the two musicians' views well. The soothing, flowing album presents the unity and opposition of wiremnky; although the repasted vocals are almost angelic or fairylike in nature, the tracks' backbeats are everchanging and unique, often taking an individual piece from a sparkling, floating subconscious to a curious or mysterious flow of adreneline you would almost illustrate as a sci fi.

"The musical concoctions of bare wire attempt to reach us in our most inner selves. Instead of protecting ourselves with layers and hiding behind the appearance that we think others want to see us as, we should be finding our inner selves and understanding our deepest emotions. fresh cold cuts somewhat parallels this revelation not only in its literal remix, which shows us the inner potential of the original album, but also in its actual transformation of the tracks. The remix tracks have an almost haunting quality to them, as if the vocalist is lost in a swirling haze of her own emotions and the responses of those around her. Crying out for help, the music picks up tempo as she grows more and more anxious for a safe haven of understanding. At other times, she seems at piece, or at rest for the time being, and the music echos a pieceful ocean glittering under a setting sun. Then, as she starts the search for herself again, the dance beat shatters the sea's serenity like glass and she's running again.

"Although the album has many deep undertones that can take on different meanings for each listener, one thing is certain: bare wire and wiremnky put a lot of innovation into making this remix their own. Although the tracks may not be unique on their own, as a whole the album can take you on a trip to your soul, or at the very least, sooth you through a homework assignment."

"A Half-step Closer to Perfection

"...The pair's decision to re-work the original album is a smart one...On 'Fresh Cold Cuts,' Bare Wire recruits the help of label mate Wiremnky. Prior to the collaboration, Wiremnky was relatively unknown... Regardless of his inexperience, 'Fresh Cold Cuts' leaves no question about Wiremnky's talent. He single-handedly turns the...album into an excellent one.

"Wiremnky achieves this with a simple equation: replace Bare Wire's work with his own. While Wiremnky does not completely scrap Bare Wire's contributions, he masks the few surviving pieces well enough that they are almost unnoticeable. What remains is a compelling collection of electronic music.

"Among the highlights of the album is 'Water Glass.' The track is reminiscent of old school Jungle, like early Omni Trio or Origin Unknown. The song starts with echoing water drop effects and a low, whining synthesizer melody. Bare Wire gently chants, 'Please don't break me' and a choppy, half-step breakbeat rhythm jumps in. When the beats drop out 30 seconds later and hauntingly subdued bass-hits bounce about in their place, Wiremnky achieves a classic Jungle tension: soothing beats warning of the approach of polyrhythmic ecstasy. Like a kiss before penetration.

"Another powerful moment on 'Fresh Cold Cuts' is 'Verisimilitude.' The track is apparently influenced by recent Meat Beat Manifesto work. Wiremnky's soothing electronic melodies with Bare Wire's crooning make for a beautiful trip-hop lullaby. The track starts uninterestingly with soft acid-jazz bongo rhythms. However, a humming bass rhythm is added, which quickly grabs the listener, and melodies mount at measured intervals until the track is a beautiful cacophony of interplaying tunes. 'Fresh Cold Cuts' is filled with these kind of powerful moments.

"...the 'Fresh Cold Cuts' album remains highly recommendable. Wiremnky is reportedly working on a solo album, so fans can expect more quality music from him in the future."
